NEW PROGRAM!!!
STRINGS!!!
Jamie Gladhart – String Instructor
Offering two classes and private lessons for classical string instruments.
Ascension Chamber Orchestra -
This class will focus on the basics of ensemble playing and chamber music. It will be a hands-on course that will incorporate many interactive exercises to get students involved and learning at an accelerated pace. We will cover a range of repertoire and technique, including basic scales. We will also cover notation specific to string music, so no previous experience is required.
This class is open to Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass students. If the student has not played their instrument before, private lessons are required for at least one semester to cover the basics of playing their instrument. Lessons can run concurrent with the class.
The Magic Behind the Music – Introduction to Music Theory -
Music theory is the study music at its heart. While often overlooked in importance to the young musician, there is no better way to supplement your understanding of music and begin to see it in a whole new light than to study music theory.
This class will touch on all aspects of basic theory, and there is no prior musical experience required. It will span three sections: written theory, sight singing, and ear training. Written theory will cover basic notation, rhythms, time and key signatures, and more. The sight singing section will utilize solfege to aid in the identification of intervals and notes. The ear training section will cover basic chord identification and melodic dictation.
Instrument Lessons -
Private lessons are an essential part of any developing string player’s education. Simply put, I wouldn’t be where I am today had I not started lessons at a young age. Private lessons give the student an opportunity to work one on one with an experienced instructor in order to directly improve technique.
Lessons will be offered once a week for both thirty minute and one-hour slots.
