The
Youth Academy
The
Youth Academy is primarily aimed toward developing young talent to its fullest
potential. The goal is to provide the finest training available. Students will
be able to audition for youth theater productions as well as any and all
classical performance groups. They will receive recognition for their efforts
by being cast in productions and also be a part of upper level singing groups
both in their schools and in outside venues. Students graduate from one level
to the next after completing a MINIMUM of requirements:
Private Voice (30 min) or Voice Class
– 2 years
Private Piano (30 min) – 2 years
Acting Classes (private OR class
study)
Dance MIMIMUM 2 years (ANY Dance School is appropriate)
Ballet is a MUST for AT LEAST
2 years, Jazz, Tap and Modern follow. Students must show paid registration and COMPLETION of
programs to receive credit.
Master Classes and Workshops (minimum
of 6)
Performances (minimum of 6)
Students
will receive a Certificate of Completion and then be advanced to the next
level.

Options:
Voice Classes
The Voice Class is offered as
an entry level opportunity for students to “try out” voice lessons. Principles
of proper vocal production, posture, breathing, vocal technique and performance
skills are emphasized. Students may then choose to move on to a private teacher
after taking this class. Classes are offered in the following sections:

The principles of proper
vocal production and its application to various styles of song literature.
Scheduling is on an individual and a semester basis. See separate brochure for
further information. Fees are scheduled on an individual basis with the
instructor.

Vocal Coaching – all ages
Emphasis on proper style,
diction and presentation of art song, opera and music theater. A separate
pianist fee may be required. Scheduling is on an individual basis. $50 per one
hour session plus pianist fee of $20
per half hour. Coaching with a pianist is also available at $50 per hour

Performance Classes – all ages
Monthly performance classes providing
additional opportunities for acquiring performance skills. Scheduling based on
individual instructor and space availability. $25 per class plus $10 per
session pianist fee.
Master Classes and
Workshops
Master classes are held twice
per semester, scheduled by each instructor. The Master Class is part of the
tuition fee paid by each student, Special workshops are provided based on the
needs of the students at any given time. Fees are included in the semester
tuition.

Concerts, Recitals
and Shows
Annual
Benefit Concert – A yearly event. Proceeds will be donated to Ascension
Lutheran Church and other organizations.
Cabarets
– Students may present their own individual cabarets or may choose to team
up with others from the individual vocal studios, piano studios or guitar
studios OR from other performers in the community. Proceeds benefit Ascension
Lutheran Church and a special scholarship fund.
Coffee
Houses – Presented twice a year, fall and spring. This Coffee House may be
any combination of singing, dancing, rock bands, poetry readings, scene
presentation etc Coffee and desserts
will be served and proceeds will benefit Ascension Lutheran Church and a
special scholarship fund.
Annual
Studio Concerts - Designed to present performance opportunities for vocal,
piano or guitar students. Each instructor is encouraged to present these as a
learning and growth opportunity for all students.
Shows
– Musical Theater revues, scenes and full shows.
